January 25, 2026: The Union Government has appointed the former Deputy National Security Adviser (NSA) Pankaj Kumar Singh, as an interlocutor to engage with Darjeeling hill leaders on key demands, including Gorkhaland statehood and ST status for 11 Gorkha sub-tribes. During the interlocutor Pankaj Kumar Singh’s visit to Darjeeling, KKRSS Darjeeling District president Shri Kishor Rai met and submitted the documents of Khambu Rai for the Tribal status.
