–Sinchel Mothan committee is established
Darjeeling: The Khambu Rai community celebrates the Khambu Sakela festival twice a year, Udhauli and Ubhauli. Sakela is the main festival of Khambu Rai. As usual, KKRSS celebrated the Udhauli festival on December 10, 2022 at Sinchel Mothan, rituals were performed by Mangpa in the presence of Central Committee Members and founder members along with 14 Sakhas around Darjeeling town, the Sakhas are: Ghoom, Jorbonglow, Rangbul, Batasay, Dali, Rajbari-Kakjhora, Happy Valley, Singtam, Harsingh, Pandam, Bhotebusty, Tungsung, Alubari and Darjeeling Municipality wards.
Khambu Rais have a tradition of worshiping Udhauli Puja for the past five decades in the Sinchel premises for the peace and prosperity of the whole community, where Mangpa and Mangma perform the rituals puja for the deities such as Boju Deuta, Shikari, Naya, etc.
On this occasion, KKRSS has formed “Khambu Rai Sinchel Mothan Samiti” with 14 nearby Sakhas around Darjeeling town to continue the Sakela at Sinchel Mothan henceforth systematically, the special responsibility of Mothan Samiti has been given to Ghoom Sakha.
On this auspicious occasion, the KKRSS also felicitated three notable Khambu personalities at the Sinchel Mothan premises. They are Sudhir Rai, Sonu Rai, and Dinesh Rai for their contributions to the field of music. KKRSS has decided to honour them for their long-standing service to the organization.
